Anne moved from her home state of New Hampshire to California in 1996 to study voice with Nina Hinson at the University of California at Irvine. Annie received her Bachelor of Music, Vocal Performance degree in 2002 and was awarded the Marcella Louise and Leonard Seiber Jones Orange County Philharmonic Society and Alice Lowell Memorial Scholarships. Mrs. Yung performed solo recitals for the Pacific Chorale, the Pacific Symphony Guild, placed third in the Opera 100 Competition, and was filmed for the PBS documentary, “Mastering the College Experience”. Annie has played the roles of Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance and Mary in The Glory of Christmas and she understudied the roles of Lily and Rose for The Secret Garden.
Anne has created her own projects and recitals between her home bases in the Bay Area and the East Coast including “Since You Asked”, an ongoing recording project for friends and family of treasured songs. Most recently she performed two annual “Singing for a Cure” benefit concerts for the Arthritis Foundation, in which she raised over $5,500 to support her sixth and seventh participations in the California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour, an eight day bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles (http://ccc17.kintera.org).
In addition to teaching voice at Opus 1 Music Studio in Mountain View and cycling, Anne performs in the Bay Area, and is currently earning her Masters Degree in Vocal Pedagogy at Holy Names University in Oakland. She studies voice with Eric Howe.
Annie’s students prepare for and perform in ABRSM exams, auditions, solo and group recitals, choir concerts, shows, and competitions. She is a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing, www.nats.org). Annie lives in Santa Clara with her husband Troy and their dog, “Broccoli”. She believes in balancing music with other great passions in life and encourages this love and life in all her students.
