About Teacher theodora (level iIi)

Teacher Theodora is a pianist and educator with more than 10 years of teaching experience at all levels, from elementary to undergraduate. She has given private lessons, studio classes, and master classes at several accredited institutions in California and New York, and at private studios throughout the Bay Area. She has also taught courses on topics in the history of music, from early music to pop. Her PhD dissertation from Cornell University focused on topics related to the long history of keyboard technique.

As a pianist, Teacher Theodora has performed virtuosic repertoire with various chamber and orchestra ensembles such as the Lublin Philharmonic, Kostroma, Peninsula, and UC Berkeley Symphonies across the US, Europe, and Russia. She was awarded top prizes and scholarships at various competitions such as the Liszt International in LA, IPC in Sussex, and several festivals including Dublin International, Freiburg, and California Summer Music. She has also collaborated with various historical keyboard collections such as Cornell’s Center for Historical Keyboards and San José State University’s Beethoven Center.

As a teacher, Teacher Theodora assists students in strengthening their technique, expanding their creativity, and thinking critically about the music they play, including its history.  Most of all, she loves to help students develop their passion for playing, and to discover love and interest for unfamiliar music and topics. Her students have excelled in recitals, exams, and competitions while enjoying a fun motivational environment at lessons.
