about Teacher Luis (level ii)

Luis has been a valued faculty member at Opus 1 Music Studio since 2019. With over ten years of teaching experience, he works with students of all levels—beginners, intermediate, and advanced. He specializes in preparing students for auditions, ABRSM exams, and refining technique for those pursuing higher-level playing. Many of his students have gone on to join prestigious youth orchestras, including The Golden State Youth Symphony and California Youth Symphony.

Luis emphasizes beautiful tone production and musical expression in his teaching, helping students develop both technical precision and artistry on the violin.

His distinguished performance career includes awards such as First Prize in the USM Chamber Music Competition and winner of the Northern Lights Music Festival Concerto Competition. He has served as concertmaster of the San Pedro Sula Chamber Orchestra and assistant concertmaster of the Gulf Coast Symphony.

Luis holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance and is passionate about guiding students toward musical excellence through thoughtful instruction, strong fundamentals, and expressive playing. He earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Alexandra Kazovsky, a protégé of the legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman at the New England Conservatory of Music.
