What age can my child start guitar lessons?

We recommend starting guitar lessons at age 6 or older, as younger hands may find pressing guitar strings challenging. Children ages 5-6 can start with ukulele, which has softer strings and a smaller neck.

Do I need to bring my own guitar?

Yes, students should have a guitar for home practice. We can advise on the right size — 1/2, 3/4, or full-size based on your child's age.

Do you teach electric guitar?

Yes, we teach both acoustic and electric guitar. Students can start on either.

Guitar LESSONS in mountain view

Learn guitar at Opus 1 Music Studio's Mountain View Grant Studio or the Mountain View Moffett Studio. We offer private guitar lessons for ages 5 to adult, covering acoustic, electric, classical, and fingerstyle guitar.

About the Guitar Program:

Private one-on-one lessons (30, 45, or 60 minutes) provide the most attentive learning experience and is tailored to each student’s individual needs and skill level, whether they are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced guitar student.
Our teachers will teach you how to read music, tab, and chord charts on your choice of guitar (acoustic, electrical, or classical).
Styles taught include rock, pop, blues, classical, fingerstyle, and jazz.

What will I need?

We provide instruments for initial trial lessons. Students taking regular lessons will need to have their own instrument at home to practice on.

Students are required to purchase music books and music accessories for their weekly lessons. If you have your own music books, please bring them to your trial lesson.
